Paying for a subscription (customer view)
Customers don’t get a separate subscription page. They pay a subscription through emails and the public invoice page. What they see depends on how the subscription collects payment: Email invoice or Automatic payment.
Email invoice
Section titled “Email invoice”Nuvioo emails the customer an invoice for each billing period. They open the link and pay it as described in Paying an invoice.
The first invoice
When you finish creating the subscription, Nuvioo shows Your subscription is ready!
- If the start date is today or earlier, Share Subscription shows a link to the first invoice. Nuvioo also emails it to the customer. Click Copy to send the link yourself too.
- If the start date is later, you see Subscription Scheduled. Nuvioo emails the invoice to the customer on the start date.
Each later invoice
When a period ends, Nuvioo creates the next invoice and emails it with a link to pay. The customer has the number of days you set under Email invoice to pay it.
Late payment
When the next period starts and the previous invoice is still unpaid, Nuvioo emails that invoice again. If it’s past its due date, Nuvioo cancels the subscription instead. See Billing cycle.
The customer pays each invoice with a card or bank account. They choose from the methods you turned on in Payments and tax.
Automatic payment
Section titled “Automatic payment”Nuvioo charges the payment method saved on the customer’s file on each billing date. The customer doesn’t open anything.
- First charge: if the start date is today or earlier, the charge happens when you confirm the subscription. With a later start date, Nuvioo saves the method and charges on that date.
- Each payment: after every successful charge, the customer receives the paid invoice by email.
- A failed scheduled or renewal charge: Nuvioo creates an open invoice and emails the customer about the failed payment. The email links to the invoice, where the customer can pay by hand with any method you accept.
Receipts
Section titled “Receipts”For every subscription payment, the customer receives the paid invoice by email as their receipt. The subscription owner also receives a copy.
